legends of Basketball Phoenix Chapter

The Legends of Basketball Phoenix Chapter operates as an independent non-profit organization under the umbrella of The National Basketball Retired Players Association (NBRPA).

Composed of former professional players from the NBA, ABA, WNBA, and Harlem Globetrotters who reside in the Phoenix area and Arizona, the Legends of Basketball Phoenix Chapter emphasizes the importance of teamwork and community building. They aim to foster a collaborative environment where trust and effective partnerships are central to achieving shared goals.

Our organization uses the influence and visibility of our former players to support and raise awareness for various community causes, particularly those that benefit underserved populations. This approach can be very impactful because this notoriety has a wide reach and can draw attention to important issues that may not always receive mainstream visibility.

The core objectives of the Legends of Basketball Phoenix Chapter revolve around lifting and empowering the communities they serve, reflecting their commitment to making a positive impact through collective efforts and dedication to their common purpose.

Our Mission

To assist and support our community and membership by being active as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization driven to transform neighborhoods, kids, adults, and establish educational advancements for all.

What we Do

The National Basketball Retired Players Association serves former professional basketball players, supporting them in life after their playing days, and helping them to leverage their inspirational influence to promote and teach basketball in their communities.

Full Court Press and other youth initiatives are designed to support the development of participating youth both on and off the court through basketball instruction, mentorship and an innovative life skills curriculum. Our Phoenix Chapter Legends of Basketball, serve as basketball coaches and mentors for the youth at each clinic while NBRPA community partners offer additional life skills programming.

Our Phoenix Chapter works with community partners and projects that support community development and advancement opportunities. Initiatives include fighting hunger, workforce development, neighborhood stabilization, domestic violence and other prevention, as well as cultural development programs.

Our Executive Board, Executive Committee, and Advisory Board members work with a wide range of educational programs. From college readiness project, STEM/STEAM programs, reading readiness initiatives, and more. Our partnerships focus on young people’s strengths and potential for success.
