About Us

The Legends of Basketball, Phoenix Chapter is the Phoenix Branch of The National Basketball Retired Players Association (NBRPA). The NBRPA was founded in 1992 by NBA Legends Dave DeBusschere, Dave Bing, Archie Clark, Dave Cowens and Oscar Robertson. This non-profit association comprised of former professional basketball players of the NBA, ABA, WNBA, and Harlem Globetrotters is the only alumni association of its kind supported directly by the NBA and National Basketball Players

The Legends of Basketball Phoenix believes teamwork begins by building a community alongside of people and organizations that trust one another and work well together towards a common purpose. Our goals and objectives focus on lifting and empowering the communities we serve.

To assist and support our community and membership by being active as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization driven to transform neighborhoods, kids, adults, and establish educational advancements for all.

What we Do

SUPPORT FOR RETIRED PLAYERS

The National Basketball Retired Players Association serves former professional basketball players, supporting them in life after their playing days, and helping them to leverage their inspirational influence to promote and teach basketball in their communities.

YOUTH INITIATIVES

Full Court Press and other youth initiatives are designed to support the development of participating youth both on and off the court through basketball instruction, mentorship and an innovative life skills curriculum. Our Phoenix Chapter Legends of Basketball, serve as basketball coaches and mentors for the youth at each clinic while NBRPA community partners offer additional life skills programming.

COMMUNITY ADVANCEMENT

Our Phoenix Chapter works with community partners and projects that support community development and advancement opportunities. Initiatives include fighting hunger, workforce development, neighborhood stabilization, domestic violence and other prevention, as well as cultural development programs.

EDUCATION

Our Executive Board, Executive Committee, and Advisory Board members work with a wide range of educational programs. From college readiness project, STEM/STEAM programs, reading readiness initiatives, and more. Our partnerships focus on young people’s strengths and potential for success.
