The Legends of Basketball Phoenix Chapter is an independent non-profit under the National Basketball Retired Players Association (NBRPA). Made up of former NBA, ABA, WNBA, and Harlem Globetrotters players living in Phoenix and Arizona, the chapter promotes teamwork and community building through trust and partnerships.

Our players’ influence, visibility, and career experience helps support community causes and create programs for underserved populations. Many members are now educators, business owners, and professionals who mentor youth. Our core mission is to uplift and empower the communities we serve.

SUPPORT FOR RETIRED PLAYERS

The National Basketball Retired Players Association Phoenix Chapter helps former professional basketball players transition to life after their careers, empowering them to leverage their inspiring influence for positive impact in their communities.

YOUTH INITIATIVES

Full Court Press and other youth initiatives are designed to support the development of participating youth both on and off the court through basketball instruction, mentorship and an innovative life skills curriculum. Our Phoenix Chapter members serve as basketball coaches and mentors for the youth at each clinic while NBRPA community partners offer additional life skills programming.

COMMUNITY ADVANCEMENT

Our Phoenix Chapter works with community partners and projects that support community development and advancement opportunities. Initiatives include fighting hunger, workforce development, neighborhood stabilization, domestic violence and other prevention, as well as cultural development programs.

EDUCATION

The Legends of Basketball, Phoenix Chapter creates and provides support to multiple community programs benefiting underserved communities, from youth sports to STEM Camps and other educational events and programs. The Phoenix Chapter uses the expertise of our former players and partner organizations to develop and administer educational programs for children, youth, and young adults.

Our STEM and future development programs for teens and young adults provide real, long term benefits for individuals and communities. Building job ready skills and offering real world industry exposure. Participants gain access to higher-paying career paths, especially in high-demand fields, and underserved youth benefit from greater equity and opportunity. These programs improve academic engagement, foster confidence through hands-on learning and diverse role models, and strengthen critical thinking. Setting the foundation for lasting success in school, work, and life.
